Rewind is a three-minute film about everything that is hidden, everything that comes before the simple act of putting on a jacket.
This
journey transpires in reverse, like a melodic dance, moving backwards from the
final creation all the way to the initial idea. All this to convey that there
is nothing simple about the process and that behind every single detail lie
many individuals, hundreds of steps, care, attention, and also, love. Rewind
tells a story of passion, creativity, commitment, teamwork. As with a film or
with any finished work of art, it is impossible to imagine just how much time
and effort is involved. This film is dedicated to all of this work. An homage
for all those who work behind the scenes of that world.

INTERVIEW
WITH IVAN COTRONEO
What is your method for
transforming artistic inspiration into images and words?
Everything
starts with a blank page, metaphorical or physical, or a blank screen in a
cinema before a movie begins. This is a very significant image because I get
the urge to fill that blank screen – I want to fill that blank page.
The creation of a masterpiece
implies teamwork and individual genius. As a director, how are you able to keep
all of these aspects in balance?
Creating
something with the help of others is fundamental; every time an image is
involved, this requires the involvement and creativity of many individuals.
When I am on set with my collaborators from the director of photography to the
costume and set designers; from the sound engineer to the cameramen who handle
even the smallest details, it is very important to share what we are doing. The
film, Rewind, is an affirmation of how much effort occurs behind the scenes, not
just in terms of manufacturing steps, but in terms of people involved.
What is your idea of elegance?
Made in Italy carries with it an idea of uniqueness in every field. Elegance is a word that is extremely beautiful, but very difficult to define. My personal opinion is that elegance comes from careful study and a remarkable attention to detail, but that it also requires just as much care, attention and time to ensure that all of this work is hidden in order to give it back to the world with a naturalness that does not appear artificial.
